In 2003 by virtue of the Regulation 14 of the Lubuski Voivode 38 areas of protected landscape were established.
One of them, Rynny Obrzycko-Obrzańskie (no 17) is located partially within the Babimost Forest District.

NATURA is a system of providing protection to endangered elements of biodiversity.
There is also one protected area under NATURA 2000 Habitats Sites – PLH08001 Dolina Leniwej Obry (The Lazy Obra Valley).
